The use of a medium close up is used to show officers from the fugitives point of view . The formation that they are standing in indicates to the viewer that they are a strong alliance, the use of a medium close up also helps the view read the expressions on the characters face which is a stunned and angry tone

this shot was used to set the next scene when the fugitive stumbles upon this sort of alleyway to run away from the officers are determined to capture the fugitive him. This shot also illustrates how 'run down' the environment that the people are living in is, we can infer this from the abandoned car and the multiple boxes

this close up shot is used to show the slight confusion on this character face as (at the time) he cannot comprehend why his friends are hunting him down. The side look that the character is giving shows that he knows something is going to happen

American Horror Story - season 1, episode 1

The zoom in on the character face at 0:51 was used to emphasise the aggression that the two kids were intending to give off. A slight use of pan is used at 1:01, where is gradually showing the viewers the house as the two boys enter it. The use of this camera movement (whilst the little girl is repeating the line "you're gonna regret it") helps the viewers foresee an unfortunate fate for the two brothers. The quit cuts between the boys and the items that they are destroying at 1:33 are used to emphasise the destruction and how quickly they are moving around the house. The hand held camera shot at 2:51, puts the viewers in the child's perspective as he is looking around for things with his flashlight.
The use of the pan movement was used at 3:18 was used to follow one of the boys as he was looking at the jars on the table, the dramatic music along with this movement may indicate that the camera is following him to his death. The zoom outwards, displaying the house, (at 4:36) shows that something drastic has happened to the boys.

this is the long shot of our main character looking over the edge of the balcony, this creates a sense of suspense and eeriness as the viewer will wonder why he looks so
this is a close up of the main character, this shot was used to show that he is intending to push someone. Due to the anger on his face, the viewer will understand that he is wanting to inflict pain on someone. the way that it was shot puts the viewer in the other characters perspective
this is an over the shoulder shot, showing one of the characters trying to push the other character over the edge, this is an addition the previous picture as the other one was putting the viewer in the characters perspective and this one is more of a 3rd person shot
this is an additional long shot that was used to capture the other character falling over the edge, this creates a sense of danger.
This is a worms eyes view, the viewer will comprehend that this shot was taken to convey the fact that the character has fallen over the edge. This has been done by showing the 'offender' looking down at the 'victim'
This is a birds eye view shot. the purpose of this shot was to put the viewer in the offenders perspective to show what the outcome of the violence is
this is a medium long shot. This shot was used to show the offender walking away from the crime scene as the deed is now done.
this is a close up shot where the victim is out of focus and the victims glasses are in focus. This angle was used to show how the victim has just been left there without any hope for her survival
This is a low angled shot , this was used to show how the attacker feels triumphant with what he has done

Post this in a new blogpost on your Media blog called ‘Blog feedback and Learner Response’ then complete the LR tasks/questions below.

WWW: This is a strangely mixed picture – you’ve got two really excellent pieces of work but you’re also missing bits. Your introductory questions are very good, you’ve clearly engaged with the task and the aspects of Media you will be studying. Similarly, the Purge film poster analysis using the key concepts of Media Studies is really impressive – detailed and insightful, particularly in terms of what the different aspects are communicating to the audience. More like this, please!

EBI: You need to ensure all missing work is on your Media blog urgently – and this is the second time I’ve had to pick you up on it. It’s common to have blog issues in the first couple of weeks but if you don’t completely work in Media you will underachieve – which would be a great shame based on the potential you’ve shown already. The work you need to post: Denotation and connotation – advert analysis of your own choice.

Secondly, you need to make sure all your media work goes into the depth of your film poster analysis. Your WaterAid analysis just doesn’t reach that level and this is such a crucial aspect of Media Studies. It’s vital you are writing in depth and detail – it is the extended paragraphs of analysis that will take you up towards the higher grades in Media.

LR: Complete and post the missing work urgently. Then, reflect on your first month of Media. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course? How can you improve the depth and detail of your media analysis?

Response; I believe that my strongest work that I've done is my analysis on the purge because I think that I managed to fully analyse the film poster and I explained what the view would infer from seeing different aspects of it. My weakest piece of work was probably the water aid analysis because I found it hard to describe the effect of certain things. The skills that I need to learn is how to analyse more difficult media texts and pictures
