Language

Being a YouTuber has allowed Zoella to become very popular and well known. She has 12 million subscribers on YouTube with 1,094,403,577 views overall, she also has another channel called "MoreZoella" which doesn't have as many subscribers but still has a considerably high follow count.

Zoella will wear young, fashionable clothes. she also has a pretty background with fairy lights. just like in the most other YouTube videos, she uses quirky and non-copyright music (like what I mentioned before).

Zoella makes a lot of money through YouTube, however, that is not her only source of income. Zoella also has a makeup line, which she launched in 2014. She has also released a book  

a digital influencer is someone that recommend or promote certain products to her fans. Zoella would be considered as a digital influencer. this is because she has promoted or recommended certain products to her fans, such as glossier. Companies will pay Zoella to mention their products in her videos. This is because she has a lot of fans meaning that more people will be persuaded to purchase their products. This also helps Zoella because she gets paid meaning she can invest in better video equipment, expand her makeup line and publish more books. 

Originally Zoella just did blogs, she has now moved on to Youtube and other social media sites. This makes it easier for her to contact fans.




Audience


Zoella aims her videos at preteens and teens - the younger generation. This links the point that I made in one of the previous paragraphs about her dressing quite young. This will make her audience feel included, as if they can relate to he (even though she is an adult). Over time, the audiences will build a personal relationship with her.


In regards to Stuart Halls reception theory, some people will find Zoella's work oppositional. One of the main reasons would be that she isn't behaving has she truly is, she puts on an act almost. This could be disheartening to some of her fans as they would feel like she isn't as genuine as she says she is. However, the preferred reading of this would be that she is someone her fans can relate to. Her videos involve topics that people of a young age will usually talk about or be interested in.


Although people look up to Zoella, there have been a few things that she has been criticised on such as filming while driving, not being honest about her ghostwriter and previously being offensive to certain people on social media 





Representations


I believe that Zoella is a positive role model for young women. Zoella has become a world wide phenomenon who earns a large amount of money each year. The fact that she is a self made business women is very inspiring for young women. Zoella is showing that women can be strong and independent. This counteracts the usual stereotype that women depend on others to be successful .


Zoella presents herself as a fashionable and fun person, however, it could be argued that she acts way to young for her age.
